Purchased a fan controller but just a thing to keep in mind. In the sunlight, the purple is a bit subtle, but at night in a dark room or case, its exactly the purple you would want in a LED fan! Purchased 5 sets of them to make it 10 total fans (would have bought more but newegg limits them to 5 per customer) and am very surprised.Ĭons: Newegg only let me buy 10 at a time!įans are 3 pin only with no adapters. Pros: Purple LEDs! Decided on these fans because of the great deal (2 for $14.99-$5 coupon = $9.99!) and because I wanted to get something aesthetically different from my previous build (orange fins/white led xigmatek fans) so purple it was! TBH at the price and it being a completely clear fan, I wasn't expecting much as far as its "purple" illumination went. Yate Loons, etc.) Like mentioned in the Pros, when undervolted, they are quiet and make for decent case fans. They perform like any other fan similar in blade count and shape (ie. At least they made the 2 pack accessible, especially when people are running AIO 120mm/240mm rads or Push/Pull on any heatsink tower. I remember the days of ordering many of the singles in their blister packages and staring at them piled high. The price for a 2 pack, especially when on sale, is pretty good. So much for the "Fluid Circulative Bearing." As always, YMMV. I didn't think I'd have to lubricate it that early. One of the fans developed a grinding noise in the horizontal position after 2 weeks.

If you are looking for something aesthetically pleasing (or a truer purple), try to look for the older batches/packages of the Crystal series fans. I thought maybe they sent blue but saw the marking on column purple on the package. I thought that perhaps I got a bad batch, but when a friend ordered a 2 pack of purple, they looked the same as what I received. I would like to know under what lighting conditions they took pictures of the fans on their website because even in the dark, they look blue to me. I did a side by side comparison to check and in no way do these newer versions remotely reflect a deep type of purple. The purple LEDs like I mentioned in the Cons are nothing like they were before. Overall Review: I've purchased a handful of Xigmatek crystal series fans for a few family members/friend's builds which use purple Crystal Series fans. The LEDs lean towards a blue-er spectrum as opposed to a robust purple. There is no difference between the Fluid Circulative Bearing and Long Life Bearing they had prior. A sleeve bearing will remain a sleeve bearing no matter how eloquent you put it. Quiet when undervolted.Ĭons: The supposed new "Fluid Circulative Bearing" is just a gimmick.
